Let’s clear something up right away: boudoir isn’t about being “sexy” for someone else (although it can be). It’s about showing up for you. It’s about confidence, celebration, transformation — and yes, a little lingerie and a lot of laughter.
Whether you’re thinking about booking your first boudoir session or just curious, this post will walk you through what to expect and how to feel totally prepared.
💋 So, What Is a Boudoir Session?
A boudoir session is an intimate photo shoot — usually in a cozy, styled studio, a luxe hotel room, or your own space — where you get to celebrate your body and your story in a beautiful, empowering way.
It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being real.
You don’t need to “lose 10 pounds,” buy fancy lingerie, or know how to pose — that’s my job 😉
You just need to show up as you are.
Boudoir sessions are for:
- Brides wanting to surprise their partner with a gorgeous gift
- Moms rediscovering themselves
- Women celebrating milestones, birthdays, or just because
- Anyone who wants to see themselves in a new light
🧖♀️ How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session
Nervous? Totally normal. Most clients tell me they’re nervous until about 5 minutes into the session — then the nerves melt away, and they’re having fun. To help you feel confident and relaxed, here’s a simple prep guide:
1. Choose Outfits You Feel AMAZING In
Lingerie is classic, but it’s not your only option. Think:
- A slouchy off-the-shoulder sweater
- A lacy bodysuit
- Your partner’s button-down shirt
- High-waisted underwear + a cozy bralette
- Nothing but a sheet 😉
Pro tip: Bring 3–5 options so we can mix it up! And don't forget accessories like heels, robes, or jewelry.
2. Pamper Yourself
Give yourself some TLC before your shoot:
- Shave or wax if that’s your thing
- Moisturize the day before
- Avoid tight clothes the day of (they leave lines!)
- Nails (fingers & toes) should be clean and polished — even neutral is perfect
Optional but awesome: Book hair + makeup with a pro (I can recommend amazing local artists!).
3. Rest, Hydrate, & Fuel Up
A good night’s sleep and lots of water = glowing skin and a happy body. Eat a light meal before your session so you feel energized (and not hangry — we've all been there).
4. Trust the Process
You don’t need to know how to pose — I’ll guide you the entire way. We’ll play music, laugh, take breaks, and create photos that make you go, “Wait… that’s ME!?” 😍
💌 After the Session
Once we’re done, I’ll go through the best images and create a private gallery where you can choose your favorites. You can turn your photos into:
- A luxe photo album
- Framed prints for your space
- A digital gallery to scroll through whenever you need a confidence boost
❤️ Final Thoughts
A boudoir session is a gift — for yourself first, and maybe someone else, too. It’s about feeling empowered, beautiful, and worthy exactly as you are.
So take the leap. Let’s create something bold, soft, fierce, or whatever you need it to be.
